can anyone tell me any good hippy ant treatments? I feel disgusting having the exterminator spray poison in my kitchen. I really didn't want to do that, but i like the freedom to be able to have a crumb on my counter if I didn't notice it. Also ants make me feel crazy, like i'm in a bad trip scene from one of those movies with bad trip scenes that scare the entire audience off of drugs.

So after having a lovely lunch at Flippers with Joan I decided to get coffee and then pop into a local used bookstore. After choosing a book off of the Math shelf I decided to take a look at the french boo"ks to see if there was anything interesting. The section was dominated by translations of American pulp Sci-Fi stories, plus a translation of "House of Bernarda Alba" (since I don't speak Spanish I prefer my Spanish novels in English, thank you) a couple copies of Homer's Odyssey, some French novels with the word "Cat" in the title (technically "Chat" but I felt like translations were in order in this post) and the find of a lifetime. Behind one of those stacks of Sci-Fi books a small book entitled "L'école de Chicago" by Alin Coulon which appears to be a history and sociological treatise on the University of Chicago published by the "Presses Universitaires de France". It mentions the gangs of Hyde Park, Research Methods and Racial and Cultural tensions at the UofC. Needless to say, it cost $5 so I bought it. Now let's see if I still know enough French to read it.

Just a few minutes ago I realized a reason why I really prefer radio news as my primary source of news. It humanizes everything. It's so moving and sad and devastating to hear a reporter at a middle school in China holding back tears at the sight of bodies of schoolchildren layed out for their families to identify in the wake of this morning's earthquake.

i sort of forgot to mention what with my hermitude this semester (horrible word i just made up) that i may have friends interested in the fact that i have a concert tomorrow, so anyone in LA who's available and interested (yan and valerie are you? i haven't seen either of you since school started) it's at Newman Hall at 7:30. concert and chamber choirs are singing and it should be really good.
we'll be singing vivaldi's gloria in its entirety as well as some brahms, a couple spirituals and some art songs. chamber choir's set is gorgeous, at least as much as i heard of it.

I totally get confused when people ask me what type of music I like because I'm still baffled by the fact that "indie" is a genre to some extent. According to wikipedia I like "baroque pop".

Also, what is with the lack of quality sketch comedy in american history? or even quality televised unanimated comedy? a lot of SNL stars were canadian. Also that's only one show.
There's totally something about the British Isles that breed magnificence and calibre in the genre of sketch comedy. (in other news I spent a lot of this evening watching a bit of fry and laurie on youtube). This translates very well into other comedy such as Blackadder. Hugh Laurie even came to the states and pretends to be american in order to show us how television is propperly done!

This blogging thing is funny. Haha.

J'ai trouver que l'université ont des examens de placement pour les langues en octobre. Donc, je veux ameliorer mon français. Je peux parler en français un peux mais je n'ai pas ecriver beaucoup en français il y avait trois ans. Peut-être je vais ecriver un journal en français qui va documenter ce que je fais. Si je le fais, est-ce que quelqu'un va le lire et m'aider? Merci beaucoup pour votre temps!

Translation/clarification: I found that the university has language placement exams in october. So, I want to improve my frence. I can speak in french a little but I haven't written a lot for three years. Maybe i will write a journal in french that will document what I do (basically, write a french blog). If I do that, will someone read it and help me? (I meant, could a bunch of people help?) Thanks so much for your time!

zomg we are in NYC and in soho and in the apple store and fun. i found pink boots i need. tonight we are seeing avenue Q. we're staying in a tiny studio with Mel... three girls in one room and there's no floor space left! i got a snake earing and a plane earing. because i'm that cool. I don't know what else to say besides AWESOME! i'm going to tell lauren that milk tea has protein in it. i'm looking over her shoulder. so want a mac book pro. taco is a NEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRDDDDDD. also virgin megastores in NYC are more clothing stores than anywhere else. that did not make sense. anyway, awesome! ana banana wants to listen to bananarama.

oh man, i'm thoroughly addicted to psych. it's really funny. also i've got to stop spending money on buying tv shows for my ipod. the great thing about psych is all the central coast references too. like omg fucking yay! also i wish that itunes sold venture bros season one instead of just season two because then i could watch it always and forever.

so, now i have a signed one of a kind sketch of marten and dora. jeph jaques asked me what i wanted and i didn't know so i said marten and dora! BUT REALLY I NEEDED PINTSIZE WITH A FLAMETHROWER! so i should have asked for that. the amount of free swag was awesome. ALSO JACKSON PUBLICK AND DOC HAMMER!!! THEY ARE SO FUCKING NICE AND SO FUCKING AWESOME AND FUCK THEY WIN HARD. and i have a dean. my own personal dean! oh damn, i should have asked for a dean in the box. because I WANT A FREAKING DEAN IN THE BOX! ok end high-ness now.

*edit* also... yay! nobody spent any money on my debit card! which means nobody stole it! i still am cancelling it and getting a new one because if it turns up in san diego, gas for the round trip probably costs as much if not more than a new card and also i don't want to go down there to pick something up and i need a card.

ohmanohmanohman awesomest concert ever. BECK HAD PUPPETS! and METAPUPPETS! and AWESOME and i'm bad at describing concerts. But there was a puppet show in the back mirroring what was going on onstage which was really good. It was set up so that the puppets looked very much like the musicians and they were dressed the same. Then the puppets were projected on a screen behind the stage. At one point, all the backup musicians had dinner! they were at a table to the side and were eating salad. And the puppets were doing the same. Also the music was awesome obviously. And there was a mini video with puppets playing baseball at the doger's stadium and doing kung fu on Bruce Lee's star on Hollywood. And I sound way too obsessed by the puppets. One time Beck came out in a bear suit. And on the puppet stage the puppeteers were holding teddy bears. RAWR. so yeah. Beck wins at everything.
